The unfortunate truth is that we are at war, every single day. There are people out there that want to take away our sense of safety in our communities and in our homes. We do not know when evil will strike, or how it will strike, but we must always be prepared. LAX Range, a Long Beach shooting range, shares what you should include in your everyday carry kit (EDC).
Basic logic tells us that your EDC should be composed with a specific scenario in mind. If it is not, it is likely to be useless in a time of need. In the past, a small revolver might be enough to keep simple attacks like muggings away. A simple flash of your gun would tell an attacker that you’re not willing to become a victim. Unfortunately, that was the simplicity of the past and today we face a much more dire situation.
Today, in this world, a lot more is needed to keep yourself safe. Given the turmoil our cities are undergoing at the hands of terrorists and the mentally insane, your EDC should give you the opportunity to:
- Adequately engage in a firefight with an enemy or group of enemies
- Fire effectively at mid-range distances
- Temporarily treat a bullet wound
- Make contact with authorities so help can arrive
If you’re one of the lucky ones with a concealed carry permit, your EDC should include the following items so that you are able to perform the above actions:
- A handgun that is easy to transport on the body
- Extra magazines
- Cell Phone
- A portable flashlight
